Admission Requirements. Applicants must have:
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from a program accredited by Engineering Accreditation
Commission of ABET,
OR
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from a program accredited by Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.
AND - A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better (A=4.0) on all coursework taken prior
to receipt of the first bachelor degree,
OR
A GPA of 3.0 or better on the last 60 hours of coursework taken prior to receipt of the first bachelor degree.
Unfortunately, a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology or a Bachelor of Arts
in Computer Science will not meet admission requirements. A degree in a field other
than engineering will not meet admission requirements. To determine if a degree earned
at a foreign university has accreditation equivalent to ABET, we will use the Washington Accord or the Seoul Accord. If there is any question whether or not your undergraduate degree will meet admission
requirements, send mse@uark.edu the exact name and location of the institution, when the degree was earned, and the
name of the degree, and we will do some research. It may also be included in the
request for information comment section.
An entrance exam, such as the GRE, is not required for the MSE.
Applicants with a GPA between 2.50 and 2.99 from an ABET accredited program, and who have been working in an engineering or related field for a minimum of three years, may apply under conditional admit status. Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam or obtaining a PE is also beneficial. Admission is not guaranteed and is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Transcripts sent with prior admission applications will still be on file, but please submit transcripts from any additional coursework. Only courses less than 6 years old may be used toward the MSE degree.
Transcripts
The preferred method to send an official transcript is to have your university send it electronically.
Submissions can be received at gradapp@uark.edu.
